Happy New Year!!!

December 26, 2009

What are you going to call 2010 for short? Two Thousand Ten? Twenty-ten? Ten? O-ten? Well whatever you decide, you will also need a renewed racing license for that upcoming future year. Get on it, or buy a one day license.

The 2010 racing season is just around the corner, and I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that 2010 racing licenses are available for purchase now. You can quickly and easily purchase your 2010 license online at http://www.usacycling.org/myusac.

Lange Twins Winery Wrap-Up

December 21, 2009

The battle for 1st place in the A's

The battle for 1st place in the A

Thank you Lange Twins Winery for letting us use your venue to host Race #4 of the Sacramento Cyclocross series. We are already looking forward to racing at this location in the future.

What a tough race. Pictures The terrain at Lange Twins Winery was definitely challenging. The soft ground made the bike feel as though there were suction cups on the tires. It was a sure fire test of horsepower and line choices all day long.

We are in the midst of getting the points tallied up as we go into the fifth and final race of the series. This year we will throw out your worst race of races 1 ~ 4. The last race will be scored normally. (No Double Points) Any ties will be decided by your placing at the final race.

The course location for race 5 has been changed to Granite Bay Beach. The upside is we will not face any parking issues on the final day. The race is on SATURDAY, January 16th. Get your calendar marked correctly.

Enjoy the Holiday Season and try to ride your bike a few times between now and January 16th. :)

Race #4 - Lange Twins Winery - Sun. Dec. 20th

December 9, 2009

Okay, it happens like this every year.  Nationals start in a few days and the bulk of the American cross season is over.  The holidays are coming up quick and they aren’t pulling any punches either… you might be thinking it’s time to hang up your cyclocross bike and get back to your ‘regular’ life.  Think again!  The fourth race of the Sac CX series is guaranteed to feature a great atmosphere and stiff competition.  We will be at a brand new venue and can’t be more excited about it. The Lange Twins Winery (LangeTwins Winery & Vineyards 1525 East Jahant Road Acampo, CA 95220) is set to continue Sac CX’s tradition of top-notch courses and excellent racing.  Speaking of racing, in many of the categories the battles for the series omnium are seriously heating up with an outcome which could be determined by one false (or fierce) move.  Example?  On one hand it may be wise to think twice and conserve energy before sprinting for the prime, or then again it could be a great lead out to launch an early attack and go hunting for glory!  May the man (or woman!) with the most speed, strength, skill, and smarts win.  GO!

Sac CX #4… top 5 reasons to go:

5.  The biggest cross race of the year is Worlds, not U.S. Nationals (the season’s not over yet!)

4.  Decompress the final weekend before Christmas

3.  Because if you don’t Rich Maile will get you in your sleep (this is not actually true, but the thought is enough to give me nightmares)

2.  It’s at a brand new venue which aside from providing excellent racing also houses a full winery complete with tasting and gift shop.

1.  Because cross racing is the funnest friggin’ thing since waterslides (and they suck this time of year).

In other news, I want to make sure everyone is aware of the new Sac CX merchandise we’ve got for sale.  There are new beanies, baseball caps (flat brim and old guy styles) and track jackets with Brian Opsal’s beloved capital-cog logo.  All will be available at future Sac CX events until supplies are exhausted.

Lastly, our usual venue for the Sac CX finale has fallen through due to environmental issues and the race has been moved to a different location.  Where?  Everyone’s favorite location in Folsom, Granite Bay Beach.  As per usual, this promises a fast, challenging, and technical course that is awesome when it’s dry and better when it’s wet.  The date is the same, Sat. Jan. 16th and there will be the usual party to follow.

See you on the 20th!
