Discovery Park is a new location this year in the Sacramento Series lineup, and it will be a fast course. If you are a native, then chances are you have passed by this location many times and wished for a cross race at this location.

If you are coming from out of town, there are a few hotels, on Richards Blvd/Jiboom Street, that are within 1.5km of the start finish line. At a glance, La Quinta looks to be the best choice, but there are other choices as well.

Rio Strada is hosting this race, and they have been working hard to provide a complete day for racers and spectators. Williams Wheels, The Hub Bicycle Shop, and Mad Cat bikes will all be on hand to provide neutral race support throughout the day. Honest Tea Beverages will be providing organic beverages during the event, in addition to on-site food vendors.  Several “Team Warm-up Tents” will available on a first come first served basis, (provided by Rio Strada Racing) and located adjacent to the course.  Marmot will be providing special prizes through out the day for top finishers. Race day music and all race announcements will be broad-casted on Killer JBL Professional Sound System.  For more information about this race and Rio Strada Racing please visit www.riostradaracing.org

There will also be lots of merchandise on sale during the day. We will have Sacramento Cyclocross T-Shirts, Track Jackets, Stickers, and Posters on sale. There will also be NCNCA Cup shirts available too.

NCNCA Cup #2 – Santa Cruz

October 22, 2008

Hello race fans.  We are getting set for round number 3 of the Sacramento Cyclocross series (which happens to be NCNCA Cup #4). However, Nov. 9th is still a little ways off.  So, pack your bags and get out of town this weekend for the Velo Bella Spirit of Surf City cyclocross race.  This race is NCNCA cup #2.

Velo Bella really knows how to throw a great race/party.  Last year’s, course was good mixture of fast gravel, high traction grass, and limited climbing.  These are good factors for the flatlanders coming out of Sacramento.

Why not make a weekend out of it.  Spend the day in Santa Cruz, watch the sunset on the beach, stay the night, race the next day, and then come home.  You will like it!

Race #2 - Lagoon Valley - Wrap Up

October 9, 2008

lagoonI want to personally thank the team at Sac CX and everyone that came out to volunteer for putting on an awesome event. The weather couldn’t have been better, the course design was perfect, and the people were great!  Awesome participation levels and I also want to thank all the riders for taking the time to come and make our race a good one.  This is the first race that we, as a shop and team have put on, so it was nice having Rich and his team to help make things run smoothly.  We’ll be posting all of our team’s shot on Flickr shortly. You can find us using Mad Cat Team in your keywords. They’d be posted already, but I basically hopped in a car and headed to Moab after the race, which is where I’m at now, soaking up some mtb goodness.

Thanks again and we look forward to being at the next event.  Mad Cat is providing neutral tech support for the next race it should be a good one!

Overall Results are posted. Keep working on your form, the next Sacramento race is part of the NCNCA Cup series too.
