Race #2 – Sunday October 5th – Lagoon Valley

September 28, 2008

Sacramento Cyclocross - Race #2 from Captain Beer on Vimeo.

Mad Cat Bicycles will be hosting race #2 of the Sacramento Cyclocross Series at Lagoon Valley in Vacaville, Ca.  This course has been used in the past, but this year we are doing without THE BIG HILL.  We came up with a course that will allow racers to compete head to head.  For those of you who like to attack on the hills, there are still some elevation gains but the severity has been reduced.

Mad Cat Bicycles will also be providing technical support for all racers through out the day.  If you have any needs from borrowing a pump, to brake adjustments, or a last minute fix, they will be on hand to help you out.

Remember to bring your numbers from race #1.

Lagoon Valley is located right off of I-80.

Race #1 -Del Paso Park - Wrap Up

September 22, 2008

del-paso-flyerTeam BEER would like to thank all of the racers for coming to our cyclocross/DJ Party.  :) We had a great time hosting the race.  Many people were right there on the course sidelines taking advantage of the shade,  spectating, and enjoying an afternoon picnic. What a terrific sight. :)

I hope the grass isn’t making you feel too much like a Zombie on this Monday morning.  Well, if it is, remember to hydrate well, get some stretches in, and nice easy ride.  You can go back to completing intervals later in the week.

We still have some T-Shirts and Jerseys for sale.   They are going quickly, so pick one up at the next race if you are interested.  You can see what they look like here. Merchandise

Race day results have been posted under Racing Results.  2008 Del Paso Park Race Results. We are going to post race day results and overall series results this year.  Right now your series placing and race placing are one in the same.  After Race 2 at Lagoon Valley, hosted by MadCat, we will do the arithmetic to come up with your series placing.

Finally, we would also like to say thanks to few sponsors.  Specialized bicycles and Kinetic Cycles provided us tents and red course marking tape. Mike Bikes provided technical support for racers in need of a tool and a wrench hand.  Also, Vee Bhopla, was also on hand as our first aid medical assistant.   Thank you all for help and support.

Race #1 – Sunday Sept. 21st – Harry Renfree/Del Paso Park

September 19, 2008

Sacramento Cyclocross - Race #1 from Captain Beer on Vimeo.

Sunday marks the first installment of the Sacramento Cyclocross Race Series for 2008.  This will race 1 of 5 total races.  The race will be located at Harry Renfree Field.  The filed can be noted by the large softball field which subsequently has ample parking.   Here is the race location.

The day will begin with the C’s and Junior B’s at 9:30am.  If you are in this race, please give yourself time to register, inspect the course layout, and get a good warm up.

The race is hosted by local Team BEER, and we will be adding a small incentive to the prime lap prizes throughout the day. Also, Mikes Bikes has been gracious enough to send a mechanic with a full tool chest to our race site to provide you tech support if need be.

The course composition is dead flat half hard packed dirt and half fluffy grass.  The course will be a bit longer than last year, as we will extend further back into the park on the dirt. The video above shows bits and pieces of the course.
